Laurie Wells grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas.  The past year has been an adventure for the 34 year old.  She was promoted at the end of the Spring of 2004 to be a supervisor of the coagulation group of the Stanford Clinical Laboratory.  Laurie has been working at Stanford for almost 2½  years now and has been living in California for the past 3 years. 

Laurie had one brother who unfortunately passed away a few years ago.  She also has one half sister and a number of step brothers.  Although divorced when Laurie was very young, her mother and father both continue to live in Wichita Falls.  Her father’s side of the family is distributed around the Wichita Falls area and her mother’s family is in the greater Michigan area.

 After leaving home when she was just shy of her 18^th birthday, Laurie put herself through college and ended up receiving degrees in biology and as a Medical Technologist. After graduating from college, Laurie worked in a local hospital for a year and a half before becoming employed by Westat.  For the next 3 years Laurie traveled around the U.S. working on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.  Her travels would take her to cities across the continental U.S. for 2 month stays.  During this time she found a love for the national parks and New York.

In April 2004, Laurie decided to spread her social circle and joined a singles group called Table for Six.  Just a two events and a few weeks later after joining she met David on a trip group outing (see “How They Met”). After using only 2 months of her 19 month membership, Laurie put her membership on hold and the rest, as they say, is history….
